Adult Sunday School Class on United Methodism

It’s time to have some fun as we explore United Methodism with cartoon John and Charles Wesley, using the same material from Sparkhouse that was used for the confirmation class. It’s exceptionally kid friendly and full of information. But the adults who were on our confirmation retreat liked it so much we thought it would be great to have a class for the grown-ups in the church.

The class will be at Seward UMC at 10 AM on Sunday mornings and at Moose Pass UMC at 6 PM on Sunday evenings.

“Guys & Beer” — Tuesdays at 6 PM

Just a time to get together and share life…and a beer.

Pastor Jim will have some (usually interesting) beer on hand and we’ll sit around the table and make small talk.

Lenten Soup Suppers — 3/8 @Catholics 3/15 @UMC

Just a reminder of our upcoming Lenten Soup Suppers.

We’ll be needing Soup, Bread, & Desserts for March 15th as we host the Supper.

Schedule of Activities & Practices This Lenten Season

Wednesday Soup Suppers

Every Wednesday from 6-7 PM at participating churches. There will be soup and a Lenten activity. On March 8th we’ll be at the Catholic Church. On March 15th we’ll be at the United Methodist Church. Please contact the church office (907-224-7368/sewardumc@gmail.com) for updated information as we make our way through the season.

Online Book Study

We have a study group making its way through James Martin’s Seven Last Words: An Invitation to a Deeper Friendship with Jesus this Lenten Season. We will be discussing in a private Facebook Group. Please contact Pastor Jim if you’d like to participate (907-224-7368/sewardumc@gmail.com).

Tuesday Women’s Bible Study — 6 PM

Our Women’s Bible Study is continuing to meet. Please contact the church office (907-224-7368/sewardumc@gmail.com) if you’d like to join in.

Tuesday “Guys & Beer” — 6-7 PM

We are having an informal “guys” gathering over beer at the parsonage (336 First Avenue). We’ll have some interesting beer available each week to try and we’ll make small talk. It’s just a way to hang out and share life with each other.

Prayer Station During Worship

We will again be having a prayer station during worship for persons to offer their prayers to God in a tangible way. There will be cardboard “gift tags” to write prayers on and then place them on frames to offer them to God and so others can pray for them as well.

Lenten Photo Challenge

We will be collecting photos that, in some way, go along with the themes of “The Seven Last Words of Christ.” These are the last sentences or saying of Jesus as he hung on the cross on Good Friday, at least as recorded in the Gospels.

Ash Wednesday Worship — 6 PM @ Lutheran Church

There is a community service for Ash Wednesday at Resurrection Lutheran Church at 6 PM on March 1st. Come for a service of Word, Meditation, and the imposition of ashes as we remember our need for grace during this season.

Christmas Eve Worship

Advent Worship Series — Advent Through Isaiah

advent-through-isaiah

At both Seward and Moose Pass UMCs we are looking at Advent through the eyes and words of Isaiah as he prophesied the coming of the Messiah. Isaiah is a great prophet to read this time of year as he anticipated both the judgment and restoration of Jerusalem and Judah.

Join us on Sundays as we, too, prepare for the coming of Jesus, the Messiah.

Interfaith Christmas Worship on Sunday, December 11th

We’ll be gathering with Christians around the community for an interfaith Christmas Worship Service at 7 PM on Sunday, December 11th at the Nazarene Church. This is something our church has been involved in for many years and is a great way to show unity across the Body of Christ.

Please bring a finger food or dessert to share after worship.

Advent Soup Suppers

We will again be joining with the Lutherans, Episcopals, and Catholics for time for fellowship and devotions this Advent season. This is a great opportunity to join with other Christians and prepare our hearts for the incarnation of Christ. We are at the Methodist Church on November 30th, the Episcopal Church on December 7th, the Catholic Church on December 14th, and we’ll close out our series at the Lutheran Church on December 21st.

Holy Thursday (7:30pm), Good Friday (7:30pm), Easter Sunday (11am Seward/9am Moose Pass)
