Do You Hear the Distant Triumph Song?
Revelation 21:1-6a; John 11:32-44

Listen to this sermon…
All Saints Sunday is one of my favorite days in the entire church year. I rank it right up there with Easter and Christmas. On All Saints, we come together to worship and praise our God and remember the saints who have gone before… In good Protestant fashion, we do not limit our understanding of the saints to those who have been officially and ceremonially canonized by the church, but rather we understand the saints to be all of those who have been redeemed and sanctified by Jesus Christ, all who have gone before us in faith and who rest today in the strong arms of almighty God. And we say with confident hope that we who follow their example today are saints in the making! Hallelujah! More… »

During Christmas and Easter seasons in our community, our choir director, Sue McClure, gives leadership to a massed choir from all the churches to share in our community worship events sponsored by the Seward Ministerial Alliance. Watch this page for the next time we will gather to share the gift of music!

Here is the massed choir at the Sea Life Center on Easter morning 2009!

In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. In any case, it was kind of you to share my distress.
When Saint Paul wrote his thank you letter to the church in Philippi, he wrote with a sense of gratitude for all that they had given him, but his words contained a subtle reminder that there are times when the going gets tough for God’s church. More… »

Day Four: Everything she had…
(Read Mark 12:41-44)
He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. Then he called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”
One of the wondrous things about our church is the diversity of the people who name this place their spiritual home. The people in the pews are coming from diverse backgrounds and heritages, and a variety of places on the socio-economic ladder. More… »
