Moose Pass Celebration

We were well-fed as usual in Moose Pass as the community turned out to say goodbye to Pastor Peter and Karen on May 16… it was also the celebration of our change in worship times for the summer. A delightful BBQ and fire kept us warm outside despite the chilly wind. And the joyful singing of hymns inside after dinner warmed our spirits. Peter still has another month as our pastor, but with the VBS and Construction VIM teams coming in a few weeks, it was easiest to celebrate now! Thanks, everyone, for a wonderful time…

Pentecost and a Vital Church

May 16, 2010

There was danger of fire among the believers in Jerusalem. Jesus was crucified, risen, and ascended.  Those who had followed him were trying desperately to make sense of all that had happened.  They gathered one Sunday morning to remember and reflect.  They had just finished dealing with some practical and political matters, choosing Barnabbas to be the successor of Judas who had betrayed Jesus.  What would they become?  What would they be?  Where would they go?  The believers had been on an emotional roller-coaster.  Mourning for the crucified Jesus, marveling at the miracle of the resurrection, rejoicing at the victory of life over death.  They were filled with questions and anxious for answers.  Anything could happen.  And something did. Laura and Kara Confirmed

On  Mother’s Day, May 9, 2010, the Moose Pass congregation celebrated the confirmation of Laura Kromrey (right) and Kara Knotek.  Laura and Kara met with Pastor Peter and Karen Perry after worship for several months this Spring to talk about matters of faith.  We looked at the historic creeds and wrote our own faith statements, learned about the Bible and the hymnal, too! We studied the sacraments and talked about  some important Greek words: ekklesia, diakonos, and kerygma. We talked about Christian life practices and what is unique about being Methodist. What a joy to share Laura and Kara’s affirmations of Christian faith and joining the Moose Pass Church  as full adult members! Laura and Kara were presented with new Bibles and hymnals with their names embossed on the covers!
