Special Pre-Worship Music -- Violin Sonata

Normally our pre-worship music features the piano playing of Sue McClure. However, Sue has been quite busy and not able to record anything this week.

However, Pastor Jim was emailed by Peter Campbell-Kelly who is section leader for Second Violin in the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra...yes, the one in Great Britain. He has produced the following video of himself playing Sonata No. 16 "Passacaglia" from Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber from 1676. Mr. Campbell-Kelly also wrote the poem included here to accompany the work.

This is from Biber's Mystery Sonatas that correspond to sections of the Rosary Prayer and this particular piece, the Passacaglia, closes the collection and may relate to The Feast of the Guardian Angel.

Mr. Campbell-Kelly was pleased that we were sharing it for our pre-worship music. While we look forward to more music from Sue, we are thankful for this classical violin sonata this week.

And, now, the Sonata.
