It's a little hard to share this in our collaborative worship service. But this Sunday is an important one for United Methodists as we support UMCOR Sunday. You can do so here -- https://umcmission.org/umcor/
The work of UMCOR is not just something that happens in other places around the globe. UMCOR has been active in Alaska even during the pandemic.
They helped fund the completion of 8 homes after the McKinley Fire in Upper Susitna Valley. They helped work towards solutions for the village of Newtok after they lost their power generator last August, along with most of the subsistence hunting and gathering they had done for winter. They are currently helping the community of Haines after severe storms in December caused massive mudslides and other damage to homes and the infrastructure. They’ve offered case management training and some financial support to individuals as they work to rebuild their lives.
Aside from the McKinley Fire, none of these have been in communities where we have UM congregations, so it is important for us to know how their support of UMCOR continues to help their neighbors.
Your support keeps this ministry going.
